Format
TTF, TrueType Font
The universal desktop format developed by Apple and later adopted by Microsoft.
TrueType stores glyph outlines as quadratic Bezier curves and is understood by just about every desktop operating system and design tool out there. It carries no built-in compression, which is exactly why it's the wrong pick for shipping directly on a website, but the right one for design software, presentations, and most desktop use.
Best for
- Desktop operating systems
- Design software like Photoshop or Word
- A safe, universal fallback for print or embedded systems
